I am looking for radio operators, preferably with experience in contests, POTA, or special events, in putting Maine on the air for our first week of ARRL WAS250, which for Maine starts on January 28.

This is a Logbook Of The World event and part of the ARRL’s Year Of The Club 2026.

This event will allow hams to earn their Worked All States for the 250th anniversary of America, and all with W1AW/# call sign if they please.

Registered Maine operators will be able to reserve selected time slots, band, mode of operation during that Wednesday to Wednesday week and call CQ as W1AW/1.

This is a much anticipated event. We need as many operators as possible to help out and keep Maine on the air with CW, Phone, and Digital. My hope is that every Maine ham that participated in Volunteers On The Air (VOTA) in 2023 will join in this activity too, as well as many other hams from our affiliated clubs, and so on.

To register you must send an email to was250me@gmail.com with your contact info, including a working email and phone number. This is in case of a mistake and two ops on same mode/time or if there is an interference issue to a government site/frequency (highly unlikely for Maine). Then I will send a link to the ‘live’ schedule where you can put your own callsign into your preferred time-slot/band/mode. I will also send you a message with tips and rules, etc. All operators must agree to send their logs in by February 11 to was250me@gmail.com. More details on that will be shared later.

Spread the word among Maine ham radio clubs. If you know an active Maine POTA op, or anyone wishing to participate, we could use their help.  The more time slots filled, the more other hams can work Maine!

The goal is that have that ‘live’ schedule filled up before the new year!
