April 2025 Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 1500hrs by club president Susan Richardson (KC1BSQ)

Presentations

Phillip and Gwendolyn Rench (Ossipee Hill Observatory) gave a very interesting presentation on Radio and Optical Astronomy.

Announcements

April 18th is World Amateur Radio Day.  Brad (KC1JMH) announced the website is live and running. Rick (KB1ASM) welcomed back Alan from South America.

Approval of the March Meeting Minutes

1st Tony (AA3HD) 2nd Bill (KB1CAT) minutes approved by majority vote.

Treasurer’s Report

Ernie (KB4EFX), Club Treasurer, reported 1308.25 in checking account and $100.00 check to be issued to the  Hollis Rod and Gun Club as a donation for use of their facility. 1st Bill (KB1CAT) 2nd Rick (KB1ASM) report approved by majority vote.

Public Information Officer’s Report

Rick (KB1ASM) reported that:

  • The Ham Radio Society Ham two day event will be  on the 20th and 21st and has been posted on the website.
  • Shaker Museum will be in September.  Will advise of the exact date. 
  • Rick has applied to the Town of Hollis for a permit for Field Day 2025.

Old Business

Trolley Museum date will be August 24th.

New Business

A reminder that the Club does not meet in July or August.

Riding the Continuous Wave

Dave (AA1LO) and Ed (K1RID) send Morse code and talked about the advantages of Morse code and encouraged members to learn code. Several Morse code computer programs were provided to the members.

Radio Roundtable

Talked about the Altoids QRP Rockmite and using a ground plane antenna with QRP rigs.

Closing

Door Prize: Sue (WB2UQP) won the door prize.
